How do I conduct a translational project using tissue from the BioBank?
If you have a translational project for which you would like to use tissue from the UWCCC BioBank, you will need to work directly with the BioBank on the actual request for tissue. However, please note that your project may need Cancer Center and/or IRB approval first – see How do I obtain regulatory approval for my translational project (below).
How do I obtain regulatory approval for my translational project?
OTRS provides a full regulatory service beginning with PRMC submission, if applicable, and including IRB submission. OTRS is also available to assist with the development of protocol documents.
How do I collaborate with an external entity for my research project?
If your research project requires an agreement with an external entity, whether it be another university or a company, the agreement will need to be reviewed by the UW. This applies to sharing confidential information, sending or receiving materials for research, sharing data with an external site, or facilities use agreements with a UWCCC shared resource. OTRS will work with the research team to coordinate the approval of these research agreements.
How can I gain access to drugs in early development for a potential clinical trial?
OTRS coordinates visits from pharmaceutical companies and connects researchers to appropriate company contacts to promote collaboration and access to drugs in early development. OTRS can also begin discussions with the UW Office of Industrial Partnerships related to such collaborative efforts.
How do I make sure I have met the appropriate compliance requirements for my translational project?
OTRS conducts compliance checks for translational projects, guiding the research team to the appropriate resources for obtaining approvals such as biohazard, animal, or human subjects.
How do I obtain an IND for an investigational drug?
OTRS assists the Clinical Research Central Office with management of INDs for investigational drugs and works closely with the investigator through the initial submission process and throughout the life of the IND.
Who is eligible to apply for the Drug Discovery Consultation Panel Review and how do I apply?
All UWCCC Cancer Center Members are eligible to apply. Applications are solicited through a Request For Application (RFA) process. The application is a 2 level process with a letter of intent and an invitation to submit a full proposal through the UWCCC SMApply portal.
See the Preaward page
What type of translational grant applications does OTRS support?
OTRS supports collaborative, multi-investigator, multi-institutional grants applications such as NIH Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE), Program Projects (P grants), Cooperative Agreements (U grants), and Department of Defense grants, among many other sponsors.
