“In the Shadow of Ebola,” film, panel & reception at Signe Skott Cooper Hall, School of Nursing.

UW Professor Gregg Mitman produced this intimate documentary of how a Liberian family and the nation were torn apart by the Ebola outbreak that began in 2014. Mitman is joined by panelists Linda Vakunta, executive director of Project 1808 in Sierra Leone and deputy mayor of Madison, Peter Halfmann, a UW Ebola research scientist with experience in Sierra Leone, and Janis Tupesis, a UW emergency physician who has worked in Liberia. They will explore parallels between the Liberian outbreak and the current Ebola emergency in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

A reception follows the panel.
