Inaugural Diabetes Research Day
February 19, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
This exciting symposium will promote diabetes research across campus and introduce the Diabetes Research Accelerator for Wisconsin (DRAW) biobank and database, a new resource recently funded by the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation’s UW2020 Initiative to support diabetes research. The event will kick off with a plenary presentation by Dr. Alvin Powers, Director of the Vanderbilt Diabetes Center and Chief of the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Powers’ research on type 1 and type 2 diabetes focuses on pancreatic islet biology, development, and function.
A Research Showcase follows, with the goal of facilitating new connections and collaborations across the UW-Madison diabetes research community. Principal investigators and their teams will share short descriptions of their diabetes-related research programs. The day will wrap up with a poster session in the Health Sciences Learning Center Atrium.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided! Register by February 12, 2019
